About Us

Professional Turf & Renovation, Inc. (PTR) was started in 1982 by John Hopko, a Penn State graduate in turfgrass management. Fresh out of college John entered the golf world, eventually becoming a head superintendent and later working as Northrop Kings turfgrass specialist. It was at Northrop King he saw a need to provide expertise and solutions for school districts, colleges and parks with their turf management, especially on athletic fields. With 50 years in the turfgrass industry, PTR has grown to be the premier turf management company in Minnesota, with many of those early customers still under contract today. Today PTR has grown to offer a complete line up of services to meet the needs of today’s natural and synthetic turf facilities. We offer seeding, topdressing, laser grading, synthetic turf maintenance and everything in between to get the job done and on budget. Throughout the years we have been members and supporters of the MPSTMA, MGCSA, MASMS and the MTGF.
